What’s an excused absence?
To be excused it must be approved by a supervisor at least 4 hours prior to the shift, or be an unexpected employee or immediate family emergency.
What’s an unexcused absence?
Any reason that doesn’t meet the above criteria such as oversleeping.

How does Bios keep track of absences?
Supervisors complete absence notification forms and submit them to HR
What happens if an employee has an important
need for time off, but has no personal leave time?
Employees who need time off to deal with extenuating and approved personal situations must request unpaid time off two weeks in advance.
What happens if employees violate attendance policy?
Employees who violate this or any other Bios policy are subject to disciplinary action. The action can range from an oral warning, to a written action agreement, to suspension or termination. Employees who miss their scheduled shift will have amount of missed hours
automatically deducted from their accrued annual leave time.

Why is an attendance policy important?
We support people who are vulnerable and count on us for all important aspects of their lives. If we are not reliable, they are in danger.
What about bad weather that keeps employees from getting to work?
Missing work for inclement weather without proper supervisor approval will result in an unexcused absence
