About Bios
Bios, a Greek term found in Biblical Concordance, means "A Better Life"
At Bios, people realize their dreams and potential with the help of a caring staff. Since 1990, the family owned and operated Bios, has earned the reputation of being a place where dreams come true for people with developmental disabilities.
The Bios philosophy is to give everyone a chance to experience the world around them. In turn, the individuals at Bios are making their communities better places to live and work. Here at Bios, we believe everyone has value and room for personal growth. We build on that belief by ensuring that people living with developmental disabilities are treated with respect and dignity.
Our experienced staff goes the extra mile to help people with developmental disabilities live the best life possible. Bios leads by example to give everyone "A Better Life.”
In November of 1990, Eddie Miller worked with his mother-in-law, Linda Myers and friend, Glenn Salley to found Bios. Mr. Miller formally began working for Bios January 1, 1992 as CEO, a role he continues today.
Lori Hauge has years of leadership experience at Bios providing in-home services to people with disabilities. In 2001, when her mother and founder of Bios became seriously ill with cancer, Lori and her sisters realized the need for high quality, life-focused services for people with short or long term needs. This led to her desire to start an organization focused on taking the Bios philosophy to a new group of people. After completing her Master’s Degree at the University of Iowa, Lori practiced speech pathology and began focusing on health care administration. When her mother’s illness advanced, she returned to Oklahoma to assist with her care and help run the family business. As Chief Operating Officer, Interim CEO, and VP of Corporate Relations, Lori gained a solid understanding of how to develop an engaged and high performing workforce, which she believes is the key to ensuring people have the choice of receiving services at home.
Kendyll Miller was the first official Bios employee hired by the Bios founders in May of 1991. Kendyll quickly became a key player in Bios’s initial growth, as she helped many people transition from Hissom Memorial Center to homes and living in the community. Because Kendyll demonstrated excellence in programming and transitions, Linda Myers, marked her as a perfect candidate for Bios’s first Director of Quality Assurance. In this position, Kendyll set the Bios standards of quality high for the entire organization. As Glenn Salley’s retirement neared, Kendyll worked for a year under his tutelage to prepare to take the lead in the Bios HR department. When Mr. Salley retired in 2001, Kendyll took up the reins as Director of Human Resources. In addition to leading a team of eight HR professionals in the areas of compensation, employee management, benefits, training and quality assurance, Kendyll also serves on the Executive Board of Directors. In this role, Kendyll enjoys participating in setting the direction for Bios Companies as well as assisting in strategic planning.
